Design is not a discipline Design is a way of thinking.
I am passionate about authentic learning, student agency and design thinking as pedagogical models for teaching and learning and am constantly seeking opportunities to engage students with new technologies to help them empathise, and to find and solve real problems. I am Head of Design at Malvern College Hong Kong. I originate from the North of Scotland and live in Hong Kong. I love thru-hiking, camping and survivalism. I am the co-designer of The Argyle Ross Trail in Hong Kong. |
I am a firm believer in the value of making in education and have presented talks on maker culture and the maker mindset for two of the major education conferences in Asia - The Asia Pacific International Schools Conference and the 21st Century Learning Conference in Hong Kong. In May 2018 I was invited to the EnvisionNOW thinktank at the Anglo-American school in Moscow investigating the impact of AI on education and the importance of the Maker Movement in current and future education. Please have a look around my site for information on my philosophy, experience and examples of student work and awards. |
